review
Our compare, Zoe Lyons, returned after her travels to the US and Hong Kong and of course thanked Topping & Butch for holding the reigns in her absence. With her usual observational wit, we were entertained with stories of Virgin hostesses (also know as c's on castors) who were evidently today's version of velocaraptors together with plenty of Boris Johnson references.
The first to step up after Zoe was Marian Pashley. A Yorkshire lass now living in the new Boris territory, she went down well with the packed crowd and her 'trapping the spider in a glass, only for a leg to escape whilst sliding in the cardborad' story certainly hit a nerve with the arachnophobes.
After a brief fresh air break (well ok, nicotine air), Irish Janice Phayre came on with an offering that took us from a display of her builders bum - "just for the crack" through to a most incredible knitted full body length replica of certain a female part. Not sure it's sort of thing you'd go to the PV in but it looked mighty fine on the stage at the Komedia.
Kerry Godliman was our dessert for this all female feast and she wasn't wrong when she announced that her talking speed was as good as those irritating announcements on the tail-end of financial adverts. Whilst it may be fair to say the audience were well lubricated by this point, we were with her all the way and she proved a perfect end to another Bent Double!
Bent Double was part of the fabulous Brighton Fringe Festival and is sponsored by REALBrighton.com because it's a very, very good night out!
