community newsGay Brighton Dance WeekendTuesday, 8 June 2010 With controversy around this year's Preston Park event continuing to bubble and with the festival date fast approaching, Wild Fruit - recently at odds with Pride over the bars franchise and no longer running the dance tent on the park - is putting together plans for a Gay Brighton Dance Weekend - a long weekend of parties to celebrate Pride and raise money for the voluntary sector. "Despite not being part of the park this year we will still have a full and proud weekend of Pride clubbing in the city" says Wild Fruit / Aeon director, Paul Kemp. "Pride Trustees have made some questionable and confusing decisions of late but it goes without saying that Brighton Pride is a celebration of which we have been staunch supporters." "This event has been created to highlight and celebrate the vast diversity of the city’s famously colourful LGBT dance scene and bring together all the venues, parties, promotions and special events that make it such an important weekend in your disco diary." Wild Fruit's weekend will centre around Audio which they have dubbed 'party central', and the Gay Brighton Dance Weekend is set to include many of Brighton's favourite venues. Specific details of parties will be announced over the coming weeks. The Village Street Party returns this year too and will once more be a highlight of the festive weekend for many partygoers. REALBrighton will again be producing its handy pocket guide to the pride festivities to help you plan your partying, and the website will be kept updated with the very latest information on events as we receive it.
