Streets will close to party

Friday, 4 June 2010

The Village Street Party will return this year over the Pride weekend. The country's largest free LGBT street party is one of the highlights of the Brighton Pride weekend and once again will see Brighton's gay quarter closed to traffic from 6pm til midnight on Saturday 7th August and midday to 6pm on Sunday 8th August. Pride revellers will, once again, be able to continue their celebrations with outside bars and all your favourite LGBT pubs and cafes opening their doors til late.

The party is organised by the CIT with a new lineup this year:

Michael Condon (Aquarium Theatre Bar) : Chair
Steve Chillingworth (Marine Tavern) : Treasurer
Paul Smith (former Pride Trustee & local resident) : Health & Safety
Chris Kift : Local Residents Representative
Alex Webb (Triptych Events) : Production Manager
Michael Kelly (Triptych Events) : Assistant Production Manager

Triptych Events, the producers of the event over the last few years will once again be organising and running the event.

There are obviously considerable costs incurred in running this event and shakers are being placed on bars in the area to allow party-goers to put money towards security the event. Businesses set to benefit financially from the event have also been asked to contribute towards the costs of the necessary toilet facilities, security and health & safety measures, in addition to the unenviable clear up task post-event.

Look out for up and coming fundraising events too.

We'll see you all at the party!
