community newsArt AuctionTuesday, 6 June 2006 As you all know, the last few weeks since the loss of Bianca have been a very sad time for us all. On behalf of myself and the staff, I’d like to thank you for all your kind words, flowers and your continued support at this difficult time. You all knew what a wonderful girl Bianca was. Brighton Rocks was her baby and she always put everything she had into any event she ran. From her monthly art launches, to the Pride Float and the Street Party she always worried if they would be a success, but as we all know, she always pulled them off. With her typical enthusiasm, Bianca had put an enormous amount of effort into this charity art auction. As a tribute to Bianca and in memory of her the auction will go ahead as planned. More items have now been donated and will be added to the auction with now half the money raised on the night going toward a Memorial Fund to be set up in Bianca’s name. The money raised will form part of a continuing memorial to the girl who touched so many hearts. Once a permanent and fitting memorial in Brighton has been chosen by her Brighton friends any remaining money will be distributed to charities close to her heart. I hope that Brighton Rocks, although never the same, can be a real living memorial to Bianca. With this in mind, I have decided that while I own Brighton Rocks, 10% of the net profit each year will go towards the memorial fund. I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday and thank you once again for your support. Kind Regards Mark Click to view photos of some of the pieces of art in the auction. A Memorial Party for Bianca will be held at the bar from 5.30pm on Wednesday 7th June. There will be a gathering prior to this, but details of this are yet to be confirmed. your commentsJustinK

What a fantastic evening with lots of people digging deep for fabulous pieces of art, cases of wine, nights at hotels, tickets for operas, helicopter flights over London... and there's still loads of great items left for Wednesday night.
Come along - chequebooks in hand! Congratulations and thanks are due to Mark and the Brighton Rocks staff (great nosh, Monkey!), to all the artists and individuals who donated lots, to Patsy Palmer for playing auctioneer so well and to everyone who bagged a bargain and then added a few quid for a good cause!
See you Wednesday for round two! x
