Your Street Party needs you

Monday, 21 April 2008

Randy Crawford once sung, "street life, it's the only life I know" and as the build up to Pride In Brighton & Hove 2008 begins, the organizers of the The Village Street Party need you for their slice of planned street life. Especially if you’re a wonder on the decks and consider yourself a highly spun DJ of merit.

Yes, your Village Street Party needs you!

Taking place on the Saturday and Sunday of Brighton Pride weekend - 2nd & 3rd of August - The Village Street Party will see St James Street host one big party. Problem is they need a soundtrack. And that’s where the local DJing talent comes in.

The Village Street Party organisers are offering six local DJs the opportunity to record and produce a 45-minute set at Juice FM, which will then be played over the Pride celebrations live on Juice FM. Your soundtrack - if chosen - will be played at every venue involved in the celebrations via a speaker system that stretches the length and breadth of St. James Street and every venue located within. You truly will be wired for sound all weekend.

Pitched as an opportunity for established and up-and-coming DJs to raise their profile as they mix the partygoers to bliss all weekend, this is one impressive gig to get. With promised name checks for both DJs and any venues they work in this is a great way of getting your sound and your name out there to the masses.

Commenting on the hunt for a perfect street party soundtrack one of the organisers Ben Davie said "We are looking for DJs who feel their sound should be heard across the street party, whether it be funky vocal house, dance, indie or pop. This is your chance to let the scene and all of Brighton hear how great you are!"

So if you feel you have the spin to make this Pride your Pride and have a soundtrack to match get in touch with Ben Davie direct
and get those demo mixes at the ready. Your street party needs you.
