Brighton rocks Pink Paper readers

The Champagne corks popped in Brighton’s tourist sector as the results of the Pink Paper Reader’s Awards 2008 were revealed this weekend. Although Manchester and London saw some impressive wins, it was Brighton who was named the Top British Destination by the LGBT readers of the Pink Paper. It seems the nation can’t resist the UK’s sauciest and saltiest of cities and with attractions like Brighton’s record-breaking Pride Festival who can blame them?

Brighton also raced ahead to win in other categories with BLAGGS securing Best Gay Sport Group and Brighton’s St James Street Prowler outlet helping the brand win Best Gay Shop. Brighton nocturnal activities also impressed with Best Bar Or Pub (South Coast) and Best Club (South Coast) going to Legends. Runners-up of note deserving a mention include Brighton Pride for Best Festival, Pride or Event, Revenge for Best Club (Across Britain), R Bar for Best Bar (Across Britain), Girls On Top for Best Women’s Venue and Mind Out for Most Gay Friendly Charity Or Organisation.

The nation’s voted, Brighton’s done good and the city should be proud. Here’s to another award winning year.
