Newick Park is exquisite. The driveway approach alone would have any Jane Austen heroine worth her salt clutching at her décolletage and sighing with pleasure. The beautiful grade II listed Georgian country house is set in acres of Sussex's most outstanding, unspoiled countryside and offers something a little different if you're wanting to get away from it all for a few days, to drop by for special dinner somewhere unusual or if you're searching for that perfect spot to tie the knot or hold an event.
Staying at Newick Park
The main house has thirteen bedrooms. We say bedrooms, but really they are more like suites. Each is individually designed with tasteful decor and beautiful furniture pieces very carefully chosen to enhance the serene ambience of the room. With king-sized and four-poster beds to choose from, there's even one bed that is eight foot wide. Gracious! As you'd expect, there's a bountiful supply of huge fluffy towels, robes and extra fine Egyptian cotton bed linens to make your stay the height of comfort, along with Molton Brown toiletries and wonderful touches with you in mind. We love the little candles in the bathroom. A further three bedrooms are located in The Granary, a charming self-contained building a few hundred yards away from the main house, where three more double bedrooms with their own sitting rooms can be found and two of which have access to a terrace and lawn. The exceptional service and prestigious accommodation have also grabbed the attention of the hotel industry, with Newick Park winning Conde Nast Johanssen's Award for Best Hotel in UK & Ireland in 2008.
Dining at Newick Park
The most delicious of locally sourced and organically produced ingredients feature highly on themenu at Newick Park's triple AA rosette restaurant. Many of the fruit and vegetables come from the estate's own walled gardens and game is reared on the estate too, featuring during the winter months. It's no wonder that the restaurant is ranked in the top ten percent of restaurants in Great Britain and Ireland. Take a look through the sample menus to give you some idea of the mouthwatering dishes on offer.
Civil Partnerships & Weddings at Newick Park
The sensational location with stunning views across 250 acres of parkland - including its own lake and the beautiful house with landscaped garden make this an ideal location for your special day. Ceremonies can be performed either in one of the house's very lovely rooms - the cluedo-esque Libary or light and airy restaurant hold around 60-90 guests depending on configuration. Outdoor ceremonies can be held under the romantic and unique rotunda with guests watching from the terrace with the stunning countryside as the perfect backdrop. The reception can also take place inside or out and there are lawns to the side of the house suitable for a marquee to hold up to 250 guests - a great option if you have a guestlist of royal proportions. Your wedding party can have exclusive use of the venue and we really think it can't get much better than this! Why not take a look at the Weddings & Partnerships Brochure for details of how fabulous your day can be.
Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway where you can really impress your beau, a perfect wedding venue, somewhere exquisite for lunch or dinner, or fancy staying somewhere divine before popping to nearby Glyndebourne for the Opera or Plumpton for the races, we really can't recommend Newick Park highly enough. Back to Jane Austen and a definite swoon!
